A year after, the sea…

It was exactly a year ago when a woman survived and others died. A year after a family photo album found in ruins sparked emotions; a year after I was asked, through the tears of someone who felt the pain of others “what about you?”

This is a video colleagues at Reuters edited of my Japan recording from 2011.

Beautiful. Brings it all back. Great work Damir.

  1. Great work Damir, very engaging.

  2. Damir this is a very moving piece – the Japanese are often seen a resilient and brave and so the crying makes your film poignant. The sequence around the photograph album brings home the horror of the situation especially as its one of the rescue workers leafing through the album. They often need to be detached from the situation and to hear him talk reminds us all of humanity. We have seen so many images of what happened in Japan and yet you have been able to present a different perspective. Thank you
